My
name is Mariposa and I arrived at the Casa de Gloria in February 2006. I was “the
new kid on the block.” It was kind of scary to be in a new place, but everyone
greeted me with friendly whinnies and honestly it felt like I had been here
forever.
Everyone here loves me. Marcas watches over me. Capi and I wander around
together and talk “girl talk.” I have several important jobs, one of which is
being a “surrogate mom” to Espiritu. She constantly wants me to play with her,
but you know I’m getting a little bit too old to be running around kicking up my
heels and bucking all over the place!
The
first week that I was here I had my first “real” job. One of the students had a
grooming lesson with me. She was very nice and calm and handled me very
gently. The students here are allowed to pick the horses that they want to
work with and she always asks for me. She gives me hugs and that makes us both
feel good! Soon after my arrival I began to work with children who have special
needs. I enjoy being a Therapist. Gloria, my Assistant, tells me that I am a
sweet and loving horse and that makes me feel very special.
