We would like to give special recognition to a very "special" horse. Tivo came to the Casa de Gloria three years ago. He has been a favorite of all of the children and adults who have been part of our Equine Assisted Psychotherapy program and the children who are taking part in our Horsemanship classes. Tivo's owner, DJ Blue, found it necessary to move him closer to her home and he left us in April. D. J. sends us regular accounts of his well being and we are happy that he is able to spend more time with his "best two-legged friend!" WE MISS YOU TIVO!
My name is MGF Definitive del Flor, and the people I love call me Tivo. I came
to the Casa de Gloria Ranch April 9, 2004. Boy, what a trip that was! I arrived
so tired and late at night in the DARK!!! I was really scared.
The next few days were just full of all kinds of new things for me. A new baby
girl had been born the month before and she was the cutest thing on four legs.
My first job was to help her mom to keep her safe. Later in the year that job
became really hard a couple of times because we had three hurricanes that came
our way. We all came through them safe and sound.
My career as a therapy horse started in August 2004. My two-legged, BEST FRIEND
brought a young woman to visit me. She was really hurting inside. While she
stroked me and brushed and combed me I was able to help her with the things that
made her so sad and hurt.
This began a most interesting time of my life. Since then I have been able to
help a lot of these troubled two-leggeds. Many of them visited me often and we
talked to each other. I'm not sure they always understood horse talk but somehow
they left feeling a lot better than when they came. I really liked this job
because the things that make them troubled are all different. I got to feel a
lot of different things with them. It's nice to feel that I could help them and
that they wanted to come back to visit me. Some of them really loved me and
would say that I belonged to them. That's nice. Don't you think so?
I had a nice job, a nice place to live and THE VERY BEST TWO LEGGED FRIEND A
HORSE COULD EVER HAVE!!! MUCHO GRACIAS!!!!!
It
is June 2007 and I live in a new place. I have my own room, my own place to
run, and my new fiends like me. I really like it here. It is a lot different
than the other nice place I lived. At this time I don't see much of my other
friends. DJ tells me they will eventually come to visit me. I hope so because I
miss them!
